In reply to <a href="https://howwisethen.com/elder-william-and-mary-brewster/#comment-5767">Tina Smith Grabert</a>.

Hello Tina - I'm glad you found the information helpful. There is an Elder William Brewster newsletter that comesout twice a year. You may want to subscribe to that. I think you could find a way to do so through the Facebook Elder William Brewster group. For your information, you may need to have another source of information in addition to Ancestry.com to document your connection to the Mayflower Brewsters. There is likely a Mayflower Society group near wherever you live that could help you with that. As for Thomas Bates, I now need to go learn more about him. The research never ends!

Thank you so much for the incredible information. Ancestry.com says William Brewster is my 13th grandfather.
I have another relative Thomas Bates who tried to overthrow the King and Parliament. Wow they really wanted to get away from there. I need to read more about why it was worth risking their lives for. Was it that bad? Bates was hanged drawn and quartered. Terrible!

I was delighted to find I have 3 lineages back to Richard Warren, who started out on the Mayflower in 1620 with his pregnant wife and 5 daughters. Then when his wife lost the pregnancy, Brewster when he came onto the Mayflower in Plymouth harbor, England, deemed her "weak" and also saw she had more than the 3 youngsters allowed on board. As Bradford related, under the veil of secrecy around Brewster so no names are mentioned, some persons were deemed not fit for the trials in the new colony and burdened by caring for many children. So the Warren females returned to London on the Speedwell. And they left 3 bunks free for the 4 Brewsters who acquired the 2 More children so they qualified to be in one of the 8 "cabins" on the Mayflower. I figure Warren could not move as the ship was overcrowded, so he stayed in the cabin with the Brewsters. Brewster was described by Bradford as empathetic, especially to anyone who had lost lands or status. I would hope you can read my two articles on Brewster: in the last two issues of the California Mayflower Quarterly. I also have another matter regarding Brewster's house in Scrooby that I want to tell you about. Reach me at: lwthroop@aol.com

Hello Virginia - I'm so pleased you found the book helpful in rekindling your interest in learning more about our amazing very great grandmother. Be sure to stop by Pilgrim Hall in Plymouth, and if you have time, Plymoth Patuxet. Both are goldmines of interesting information about that chapter of history and our mutual ancestor.
